Original Sin

Original Sin

This week on What The Frock?, bought to you by Pfizer, Rabbi Dave and Friar Rod dive headfirst into a theological, political, and pharmaceutical stew, stirred up by Jake Tapper’s hot-off-the-press book, Original Sin. But before we even get to Tapper’s “bravery,” we’re treated to a grand parade of what Dave calls “stunningly brave people”—from TikTok activists writing “FDT” on their foreheads in permanent marker, to TV anchors now suddenly shocked—shocked—to discover that President Biden may have had some health issues during his campaign.

Tapper’s book, of course, is the spark. And like any good Washington bonfire, it’s lit with damp matches and ego kerosene. The “original sin,” according to Tapper, was Biden’s refusal to step aside in 2024, despite what appears to be mounting evidence (and whispered cocktail party chatter) that the President’s health was in decline. Rabbi Dave, with a righteous sniff of contempt, reminds us that Tapper and his media pals were all too happy to carry the water for Biden—until they could sell books instead.

Rod, as ever, brings the common sense hammer: “Wasn’t Tapper part of the cover-up?” Exactly.

From there, the discussion unfolds into broader questions: Who controls what we hear? Who decides when it’s finally safe to say the quiet parts out loud? Why does Big Pharma run more ads during the evening news than actual news stories? And how many cat videos must we endure before realizing that media, like bread, may not be as toxic as Facebook says?

Also on tap this week: low birth rates, angry trans TikTokers demanding dates, and one very bad idea involving a pet lion in Iraq. Dave even manages to work in the French phrase for “Cat, I farted” and delivers a passionate tribute to Prince’s guitar solo at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame—because why not?

If you’ve ever wondered how the fall of man, the fall of Biden, and the fall of rational journalism all got bundled into the same absurd Sunday podcast… this episode’s for you.

Stunning. Brave. And just a little crusty around the edges.
